The BL9808 series cartridges were commonly used in older LG refrigerators and unlike current models (where the cartridge sits -inside- the fridge compartment), the cartridge usually was found hidden behind the fridge in an 'in-line' configuration (tube in either end of the cartridge). Whilst these designs offered manufacturers a simple way to filter the water supply without having to allow for it within the internal design of the fridge, it naturally causes a little bit of a problem in that the fridges often needed to be 'moved' to get to the cartridge (and these things are not insignificant to shift around).
