The UKF8001AXX cartridge was originally manufactured by Amana, but since the groups acquisition by Maytag some years back, modern filters tend to be referred to as a Maytag Part. The UKF8001 cartridge is a long filter, which drops down from a small compartment inside the fridge itself, usually in the top right.
The most popular range of fridges using the UKF8001AXX are those manufactured (or sold) under the brand of Admiral, common to the UK. Admiral fridges are manufactured by Maytag, and are sold in many high street retailers. These cartridges can be quite hard to find, and they are usually very expensive, with the RRP being £60 and many smaller specialised outlets retailing them at £70 to £80!
So why are these so cheap? Well we are actually authorised Whirlpool/Maytag UK distributors and we buy these in massive volume - we actually keep an 8000ft warehouse full of various fridge and water filter cartridges, so always have plenty of stock.
